Science
and
Philosophy
Seminar

The Science and Philosophy Seminar is rigorously informal. There are no by-laws, no elected officers, no budget, no membership fees, no initiation rituals, and no secret handshakes. The group’s meetings are not conducted in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order.

The sole requirement for membership in the Seminar is a commitment to make a presentation to the group at least once every two years, or arrange for and host a presentation by an outside expert. Members who have made five, or more, presentations are free of this requirement.

Our regular meetings are held on Fridays at 10:30 AM, from October through May, at the Eastern Shore Community College in Melfa, Virginia.

Most often presentations run about one hour in length and are followed by open informal discussions.

There are no particular guidelines regarding the subjects that may be discussed in the Seminar. However, the members of the group are not inclined to abide stump speeches, movies, infomercials, proselytizing, shameless commerce, travelogues, or anything to do with celebrities.
